The International Chess Tournament for the President’s Cup of the Republic of Tajikistan concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony held on November 16 at the Hyatt Regency Dushanbe Hotel.The competition of chess virtuosos took place over seven days — from November 9 to 16 — in the conference hall of the Istiqlol Hotel, bringing together 230 participants from 16 countries around the world.Based on the results of an intense and spectacular battle, the prize places were distributed as follows:Group “A”🥇 1st place — GM Pranav Anand (India 🇮🇳) — 10,000 USD🥈 2nd place — GM Sergey Drygalov (Russia 🇷🇺) — 8,000 USD🥉 3rd place — GM Nikita Afanasiev (Russia 🇷🇺) — 5,000 USDGroup “B”🥇 1st place — Islambek Khusanov (Uzbekistan)🥈 2nd place — Makhamadullaev Mukhammaddier (Uzbekistan)🥉 3rd place — Oksana Goryachkina (Russia)In total, 15 main cash prizes were awarded in Group “A” and 11 in Group “B.” Additionally, the organizers established 4 special prizes in Group “A” and 12 in Group “B,” recognizing the best games and outstanding achievements of the participants.Particular respect goes to the athletes of the Olympic chess team of Tajikistan. Our players demonstrated a high level of preparation, professionalism, and resilience in matches against strong opponents. Their confident performances were acknowledged by the panel of judges and duly rewarded.This tournament has become an important milestone in strengthening the position of Tajik athletes on the international chess stage, confirming the growing mastery and competitiveness of our players.
